Rockefeller Center, in partnership with Art Production Fund, presents a series of public art pop-ups throughout the Center. Taking place in unique and unexpected locations, the multidisciplinary program showcases installations inspired by the New York City landscape and contemporary life.

Rockefeller Center and Art Production Fund welcome artist Julia Chiang's new public art exhibition, This Way That Way, Here. The site-specific installation features Chiang’s stunningly vivid images and a selection of ceramic vessels, inviting audiences to encounter her deeply personal work in an unexpected urban setting.

Julia Chiang is known for her carefully constructed, detailed paintings in which intricate webs of shapes small and large converge across colorful backgrounds. Installed throughout the iconic Rockefeller Center campus, the exhibition blurs the lines between intimacy and monumentality, offering a rare opportunity to experience Chiang’s vision on a massive scale.

In the vitrine spaces of 45 Rockefeller Plaza, visitors can find three displays with intimate hand-built ceramic vessels, creating a layered visual experience that bridges scale, material, and emotion. Each window radiating its own mood suggests shifting feelings, from joy and tenderness to contemplation, reflecting the emotional range at the heart of Chiang’s practice.

From these vivid, glass-encased worlds, Chiang’s vision spills out across Rockefeller Center where her work reveals itself in unexpected corners in moments of color and delight. Awash in bright, saturated hues, look closely and find intricate hand-drawn details embedded within the bold designs. Together, they form a tranquil treasure hunt across the campus, transforming the act of moving through the space into an experience of discovery and connection.

An expansive 125-foot mural stretches across the lower concourse of 45 Rockefeller Plaza, bringing together a sweeping presentation of imagery, enveloping viewers in a continuous flow of color and gesture. From a distance, the mural reads as a vibrant pathway, while up close it reveals the subtleties of brushwork, layered textures, and recurring motifs that thread through Chiang’s practice.
