Sound and Light are located to the left and right sides of Lawrie’s celebrated Wisdom. Bold, streamlined and angular, these Art deco carvings extend the central decoration across the whole entrance. They herald the advent of radio (sound) and the motion picture industry and television (light), two industries that were achieving global significance as the Center was being built. Sound appears animated, alert and animated, his voice depicted as circles emanating from his mouth, while Light emerges from cosmic clouds, raising her arms to send electrical images through the air.
