Explore all of Rockefeller Center’s dining and drinking options.
For a night out: Le Rock
Since the owners of the popular downtown restaurant Frenchette opened Le Rock, their French restaurant at 45 Rockefeller Plaza, it has become a rising star in a city full of excellent eats. Restaurant critic Pete Wells gave it a rave review for The New York Times, spotlighting the housemade sausage, leeks vinaigrette, profiteroles, and selection of more than 200 natural wines. In addition to tables in the Art Deco-style dining room, there’s plentiful seating outside on the spritz terrace, with iconic Rockefeller Center views and bright-orange Aperol accents that amp up the summer vibe.
For pasta and wine: Jupiter
Looking down at The Rink from street level, cheerful umbrellas dot the terrace where Jupiter, an Italian restaurant located inside the lower level of Rockefeller Center, offers under-the-open-sky dining. Jupiter is focused on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and executive chef Lucy Gibson recommends the primavera salad with bibb lettuce and whipped pecorino, and it pairs perfectly with a Northern Italian rosé. Still, you can’t go wrong with any of Jupiter’s signature pastas and wines, as well as spritzes, nibbles, cake, and gelato — for a mini Italian vacation of sorts in the heart of the clamor of New York City.
For a quick meal: Puya Tacos de Puebla
Located in a kiosk on the South Esplanade, Puya Tacos de Puebla, named for the famed hot pepper, serves up a fresh and vibrant slate of homemade food from the Puebla region of Mexico. Tacos, as the Rink Level restaurant’s name indicates, are at the heart of this outpost’s menu, with three options: al pastor (grilled pork and pineapple), carne asada (skirt steak), and vegetariano (crispy potatoes, grilled corn, and poblano peppers). And the guacamole is worth a try, too. Pair a couple of Puya’s tasty tacos with aqua fresca (tamarind or jamaica) or a Mexican soda, and you’re set for a quick, summery meal outdoors.
For cocktails and vibes: Pebble Bar at The Rink
The team of New Yorkers who turned a 19th-century townhouse into vibrant social spot Pebble Bar is at it again, bringing that summer-in-Europe feeling to Rockefeller Center via an outdoor lounge and bar right on The Rink. The menu includes frozen drinks, summer spritzes, and large-format margaritas to share, plus global beer and wine lists and refreshing non-alcoholic options. Pair that with Italian bites from Jupiter and lawn games, and you’ll want to linger for hours.
For a table with a view: The Weather Room
Talk about elevated outdoor dining: The Weather Room at Top of the Rock serves everything from morning coffee and pastries to evening cocktails and caviar atop one of the city’s must-see attractions. Impressively perched at Top of the Rock, almost 850 feet above Rockefeller Center, this is the place to go when you have someone to impress—or just need a reminder of how lucky you are to be in the greatest city in the world. While soaking in what is arguably the best view from a bar and eatery in New York City, don’t forget to snack on some local classics, like a New York bagel, soft pretzel, or even a slice of cheesecake paired with a Cosmopolitan. Plus, through September 1, New Yorkers can enjoy exclusive pricing on Top of the Rock entry; the $20 ticket also includes a buy-one-drink-get-one-free offer at The Weather Room Bar.
For after-work drinks: City Winery
When the workday concludes, head to City Winery at Rockefeller Center to unwind over a glass of locally made wine (on tap), beer (from Montauk Brewing Company), and Mediterranean-inspired light bites. Appointed with wooden barrels and green metal stools, the year-round, pop-up wine garden doubles as an easygoing meeting place and an oasis in the middle of Midtown in the summer. When winter rolls around, you can reserve a heated geodesic dome to cozy up with mulled wine and bask in the holiday spirit, after skating on The Rink and visiting the Tree.
For grab and go: Under 30 Rock
Have a picnic on the Plaza with takeout options to satisfy any craving from Under 30 Rock — a curated collection of casual restaurants and takeaway counters below 30 Rockefeller Plaza. For a pick-me-up, order a coffee from The Tipsy Baker and an artful pastry or quiche. For lunch, get some slices (or a whole pie) from Ace’s Pizza, enjoy a gluten-free, customizable dosa from Madras Doas Co., Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar, or order a sandwich from Alidoro. Or, if you’re more in the mood for a bowl, grab a flavorful rice bowl from Fieldtrip and iced tea or a custom salad from NAYA. Once you have provisions in hand, scout out a picnic-worthy spot in Midtown and dig in. Maybe sit in the Channel Gardens or on the stairs at The Rink; public seating at The Rink is open until 3 p.m. daily.
